How many times have you watched your copies of LOTR? Can't Post

Myself, I'd say I've watched them about 15 times. How about you?

Not high enough choices! [In reply to] Can't Post

I put the 50 choice, but I know it is more than that over the 10 years. Fewer times every year, but still a favorite of ours.

You know, [In reply to] Can't Post

you can see the movies with someone else, but reading is generally done alone. My kids didn't want to listen to Tolkien's books. Neither is nor were (whichever the case may be) fans like their mother.

Is this a math question? [In reply to] Can't Post

If it takes X number of hours to read 3 books and Y number of hours to watch 3 movies, how many miles will the fly travel before the two trains crash?

Not got a clue! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've never kept count the number of times I've read the books or watched the films.

Since I started reading LOTR in 2000, and every year following it, it makes it 11 times.

As for watching the films?! They were on everyday 10 years ago Wink

hard to count [In reply to] Can't Post

but not many time watching 'my copies'. Definitely more times in the theater.

However, I have watched portions of the movies - in working on the soundtrack - hundreds of time.

Easier to count the theatre viewings. [In reply to] Can't Post

FotR: 3; TTT: 5 RotK: 13

Then there's the TE-vs-EE issue. I've only seen FotR TE twice, once in the initial release and once at the RCMH concert. I don't like it nearly as well as the EE. Actually, that's true of all of them -- I sold or gave away my TE DVDs when the EEs came out.

Depends on which one you mean. [In reply to] Can't Post

FOTR a dozen times, easily.

TTT not as many.

ROTK twice. Maybe.

After wating thirty years for the movies to be made [In reply to] Can't Post

I was all agog, but burned out pretty quickly. I saw FotR in the theater maybe half a dozen times, and the others less often. I've only watched my copies three or four times. And though I'd read the books about 20 times when the first movie came out, and read them again maybe five times in the next five years, I haven't gone back to them either. Just burned out. It may take a few more years before I can read the books or watch the movies. But when I do, it's definitely the EEs, and not the TEs.

PJ's movies [In reply to] Can't Post

If I am not mistaken I've watched each film of the trilogy 3 times. Two times in French TE and one time in English EE. So, I am in the 1-5 category.

Two camps [In reply to] Can't Post

Interesting, we have one camp who has watched them 10-20 times, and another who has watched it over 50 times. Are there really two camps of LOTR fans? A Super-Fan group and an Ultra-Super-Fan group? Interesting....

Thanks for responding folks!

I don't think I've ever watched a film about 50 times, I am impressed of those who did so. I guess it just prove how huge a fan people may be!

Or need to get a life :P ...............Just kidding! [In reply to] Can't Post

I guessed i have watched it between 11-15 though to be honest i have no idea as i dont count how many times i watch a certain film i just watch them. I do know though i went to see them a couple of times each and then when they came out on dvd especially FOTR and TTT i watched them loads over xmas, then i got over exposed to them and had to leave them alone for a few years and now i can watch them again. The books though, never get old..

I've watched them once a year plus one or two [In reply to] Can't Post

so that would be 12 or 13 times. The one or two have been since I started posting here--but then I noticed I was analyzing them more that enjoying them so I've backed off a bit.

It must be at least 30 times. I went to see FoTR 10 times when it was still showing at the cinema and I've watched it and the others many times since.
