but if Eomer had been there then I would have chosen him.

Aragorn is a seasoned warrior, experienced, brave, strong and skilled. I would have chosen Eomer because he has a sort of fiery passion for his people and his land. There's just something about him - maybe it's his youthfulness in comparison with Aragorn.
