Top Chef: Bilbo v. Elrond v. Bombur Can't Post

Premise: honey let's eat out tonight. Whose restaurant shall we choose this evening?

Choice A: Elrond's Homely House in Rivendell. Fine neo-Noldor cuisine using local ingredients from Imladris and the Northern Ered Mithrin area. Expect magic and miracles to appear on your plate and your palate!

Choice B: Bilbo's at Bag End. Home cooked meals made by a Shireling's hands, best grub money can buy west of the Brandywine, using recipes from as far back as the Old Took himself. Not just cold chicken and pickles here.

Choice C: Bombur's Barbecue Pit at Erebor. This joint isn't so Lonely, due to its mouthwatering menu choices straight from Bombur's fire pit. Cold beer and roast meat off the bone is only the beginning.

My choice [In reply to] Can't Post

Can I not mingle the three together Tongue

If I could, I would choose to have Bilbo's company, while eating at Rivendell, with Bombur as the chef!

I would choose A anyway, never mind the food, I just want to walk around Rivendell please Smile

now now, that's too easy :-p [In reply to] Can't Post

But i agree with your combination, if that were an option. :-p

I think i'd pick Elrond's as a romantic dinner for two. But for the whole family i'd go with Bilbo's. For just me and some guys --Bombur's.

Good question! [In reply to] Can't Post

While Bilbo and Bombur would make lovely rustic meals, I think Elrond would blow everyone away with flavours you didn't even know existed. He is very old so presumably very experienced - and of course, that elvish magic! It would be the kind of meal that filled you up perfectly but you'd never feel over-full or bloated after eating it.

Personally Bombur's cooking sounds too heavy and I imagine Bilbo's would involve a lot of bread and dairy products and I can't really eat those things, so I'm biased!

Elrond's easily [In reply to] Can't Post

Light, delicate food with plenty of flavour, all served with vintage Miruvor. Smile A true restorative.
Do you reckon they can make Athelas tea to go with the mints? Laugh

Good call, that.

Athelas tea with mint, that's what I call herbal tea!

Elvish magic and Ages of experience [In reply to] Can't Post

does sound like quite an advantage.

Is it bad that my mouth waters for a fictional cuisine? This is what I have become.

Bilbo! [In reply to] Can't Post

You can't tell me a hobbit like Bilbo doesn't know how to cook a fine meal, likely including ingredients from his garden.

I'm sure Elrond has had a long time to gain experience, and of course, dining with Elves would be an experience in itself. But I'm a Hobbit, and I'm at home with Hobbits. So, a vote for Bilbo!

Bilbo's sounds good. [In reply to] Can't Post

If I had a choice of all the ME restaurants though, I'd choose Smeagol & Gollum's sushi parlor.

Their ad jingle might go something like:

For sushi swee-ee-eeet!

I didn't know about that when I was posting!
