The Heron Mark sword is from the Wheel of Time series so it [In reply to] Can't Post

is indeed meant to be a fantasy recreation.

Nice website at myarmoury...I note they reviewed a sword from Windlass, one of the sword makers I noted.

Keeping in mind the affordable price point -

Windlass Steelcrafts 15th Century Longsword
A hands-on review by Joseph Fults

Ok for a novice entry level purchase...too much flex in the blade.

A nice Ranger Sword

It was [In reply to] Can't Post

in excess of 4 pounds I believe, closer to real but still too heavy for its size and type. Weight is only one issue and none of the UC stainless steel replicas handled like or were constructed anywhere near anything resembling a fully functional sword.

Myarmoury reviews a broad range of mainly historical based swords, some have some fantasy elements and some are innacurate when considered as what are attempts to be historically inspired but they try to introduce a broad range of products so people can be fully informed.

Look at Albion swords website, each product is like the best history lesson you could ever hold in your hand.

the main difference [In reply to] Can't Post

in production vs traditional is the fact that steel sourced nowdays is much better and they cut this from a steel blank to form the basic blade shape. So some of the manufacturing process is different but the sword performs and feels true to historical type. I had one of the models of sword seen here and it is simply an incredible sword.
