Ooh, I'm starting to get fluent in Newtornboards Can't Post

You know how when you're learning a new language, at first you have to translate everything into your own language? Then one day you realize that you're not doing that anymore; that you're thinking directly in the new language without translating. Something like that just happened to me: I was in the new Reading Room and suddenly it seemed very familiar, like I'd never left the old place. I wasn't making comparisons with the old boards any more, I was right at home.

Glad you are finding it so Aunt Dora :)

I think when people start to take this place on its own merits and are no longer comparing it to the old boards, it'll make a lot more sense. Some will settle quicker thabn others, but we'll all get there :)

Ummm, just wondering if this thread is more an OT than on topic. No biggie, just a thought :)

''Pooh!'' he whispered.
''Yes, Piglet?''
''Nothing,'' said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. ''I just wanted to be sure of you.''

When I read "El Senor de los Anillos" (LotR in Spanish) [In reply to] Can't Post

I was definitely thinking in Spanish. I bawled several times, especially when the Ring was destroyed. I don't know why, but the Spanish seemed more emotional than the English. And Strider (Trancos) was veeery sexy in Spanish.

I wondered that myself. Flipped a mental coin and landed here.

Same here [In reply to] Can't Post

I get a little thrill everytime I discover a new, cool way of doing things. Like just a few minutes ago when I realized that the best way yet (for me) to read some threads was in flat mode, but with the same thread opened in threaded mode in another tab. That way, I can easily check where a post lies in a thread (often hard to know in flat mode) without actually having to switch the view I'm looking at to threaded mode (thus losing my place in flat mode if I switch back).

Sherry, [In reply to] Can't Post

your approach to subject lines is killing me. Keep 'em coming! :D

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Don't give up! Never surrender!

Remember, the kids you teach are always being asked to learn something new. And some of them are sooo reluctant to look into different topics and strange ideas!

It's that way, here: some features are the same, most are greatly improved (look! no clock!), and some we'll miss (modding - *sniff*) - but for those, we'll improvise! There's help all over the place, in links and on Feedback or even PMs (personal messages), just ask!

C'mon, you can do it!
