Lady Catherine is used to dominating those less powerful than herself, and those whose good manners forbid them from takng her on. Lady Bracknell, on the other hand, faces down cheek and rudeness from her social equals who have no manners, and has also scrummaged her way into the nobility despite a chequered past. I think Lady Bracknell would eat Lady Catherine as a mere bijou snackette, although perhaps if the terms were confined to discussion of fireplaces Lady Catherine might carry the day. The only LOTR character I would put money on against either would be Lobelia Sackville Baggins and her umbrella.
