Animated Gimli and Legolas - Whaaa? Can't Post

I was reading my leaflet that came with my recent SFX when I noticed two 5 inch figures called Animated Gimli and Legolas? Looking further into it on the web I found more.

Is there some cartoon I am not aware about? I know I have been out of the loop for sometime but...

This is.... [In reply to] Can't Post

Gentle Giants animated line for LOTR. There is no animated film the figures are based on. They've also released Star Wars animated figures as well (though, those resemble the Clone War series of course). So far the line-up for the line is:

Gandalf the Grey (already released)
Saruman (already released)
Legolas (currently on pre-order)
Gimli (currently on pre-order)
Ringwraith on Steed (currently on pre-order)

The Legolas and Gimli figures have bases that can fit together.

Gentle Giant also does the LOTR bust line. So far the line-up is:

Gandalf the Grey (already released)
Ringwraith (already released)
Aragorn (already released)
Balrog (currently on pre-order)
Frodo in Orc armor (currently on pre-order)
Sam in Orc armor (currently on pre-order)
Glorfindel (a comic-con exclusive)

I'm sure upcoming Comic-con in San Deigo will reveal a few more announcements in both lines.

Why does Gimli look like Yosemite Sam? [In reply to] Can't Post

Those are....hmm, not sure yet. I see they are also making 'Pirates of the Caribbean' figures, which I actually kind of like.

Here's a link to their store. It shows all the animated figures that have been announced/released. Gentle Giant is the company that makes them. Gandalf and Saruman are the only two that have been released to the public so far. You can't buy them directly from Gentle Giant now but there are vendors out there in cyber land that you can buy them from.
