NZ's advance against the US dollar a key reason for WB's threat to leave

Interesting article, with confirmation from Key, that the NZ run against the US dollar was central to spooking WB on the Hobbit.

This is an issue that was not discussed at all during the flare up, which is something. My question is: Did the NZ government use this as an opportunity to do something on the labor issue that it has wanted to do for some time? As this revelation may tamper some of the bad blood between the unions (and Kiwi union supporters), and Kiwis who are and remain passionate about keeping the films in NZ, this may be a very constructive conversation to have.

My second question is: Who is going to be cast as Balin? I am very, very curious on that front...

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
