Whoa, Grandma! Have you entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest Tolkien collection found on this earth? That is a ton of Tolkien stuff! I think I'm going into shock right now.
Roast chicken?! You're taller. Who? You. Then what? Then me! I've always been taller than you. Pippin, everyone knows you're the short one. I'm the tall one. Please Merry. Your what? Three foot six at the most. Whereas I'm pushing three seven. Three eight! Three foot eight! You did something. It's Latin. Loosely translated, it means... we cheat. "Strange treasures in this fair world appear, strange all, and new to me." That is a poem by Thomas Traherne and I have absolutely no idea what it's about. But, when I was small I was made to learn it by heart so I don't see why you shouldn't suffer too.

...the roof of her house? Check out the two roof pics from this post (they're linked as "Tolkien symbol" and "symbol again", just below the line with the link to her flet). I agree, gramma ought to be in a Records book somewhere!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I desired dragons with a profound desire" "It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?" -Geoffrey B. Smith, letter to JRR Tolkien, 1915
- a fellow collector. Mae govannen. All I can say is 'ditto' (more or less) to all but the figures - I don't collect those. But books, journals, posters, calendars records, tapes, etc. are all meat and drink to me. My special areas of interest are Tolkien's academic works, and his early poetry. I'm also an autograph hound, and will often be seen waiting in ambush for Tolkien artists and authors. I'm particularly plased to have met Tim Kirk at Aston University in 2005; he not only signed my 1975 calendar, but also drew a picture of the Witch-king in my autograph book. Lovely! I've also got a couple of original works of art by Ted Nasmith, Inger Edelfeldt etc. Gramma - congratulations. A smashing collection indeed.
