Cool... [In reply to] Can't Post

so we'll go with an unofficial kinship on Landroval!

What's the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?"

Landroval and Brandywine [In reply to] Can't Post

Someone in my kin on Brandwine mentioned the other day that when she tried to transfer her characters from Firefoot, they wouldn't let her.

I seem to recall hearing, however, that the busiest servers (Landroval and Brandywine?) were not accepting transfers, just because they're already overloaded.

I don't plan to stop playing my regular characters on Brandywine, and I don't want to transfer them to another server, either. My thought was to create new characters on whichever server we settle on and start leveling them.

Perhaps the best way to do this is find out which active players are interesting in participating, and choose the server where the majority of them already are. Then the rest of us can join in, in whatever way suits us (either new characters or transfers, if allowed).

That way, we run less risk of the whole thing petering out from lack of interest, because we'd have people who were already going to be active on that server anyway.

It might also be a good idea to choose a tentative schedule of a couple or three times a week that our group could target for group activities. Not that everyone has to play around that schedule, of course, but if I knew that there were specific times when the group would try to get everyone together, I'd be more likely to check in than if I just logged in randomly, hoping to find someone there.

Landroval.... [In reply to] Can't Post

is not accepting any character transfers at the moment....that much I know. I have one character that I'd be willing to delete and start on another server, as I haven't done much with that one. So if it comes right down to it, I can get to another server if that's what folks choose! As far as a schedule goes, I'm good with that...although I'm working some odd hours. I tend to be online between 1:00 am and 4:00 am (Eastern) during the week, as that is when I get home from work. I can probably get on for a an hour or two during the day to get things rolling though, as I'm not at work til the evenings. I'm good with this idea! I can see what I can work around.

Just out of curiosity... [In reply to] Can't Post

Which quest do you just run for the door?

So I'll know what to do when I come to that one. Laugh

If you're starting characters on a new server [In reply to] Can't Post

you don't need to delete any of your existing ones. Or am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

I'm usually getting off right about the time you're getting on. But I could stay later on Fridays or occasionally during the week, as long as it wasn't frequent. I have a hard enough time dragging my rear out of bed in the morning to go to work. Crazy

Anyway, we'll have to see how this shakes out with other people. If we can't coordinate anything, I'd be willing just to make a few characters wherever, and just hang out with other TORn folks for fun.

Rosie's right [In reply to] Can't Post

No need to delete, you can have one or three or seven toons on each of the North American servers. In other words, you can be leveling toons on one account until the poles melt and Canada becomes a tropical climate.

Late Friday nights could work for me too, and random times during the weekends, especially now that winter is about to set in.

As far as other people, Rosie, I think as long as we can direct new players to Landroval we'll have won half the battle. I'll be starting a kinship once we decide on a name (see sig); we simply want to provide an ultra-casual friendly place for TORn folks to get together in-game and geek out in Middle-earth.

Vote for the upcoming LOTRO/TOR.n Kinship name!
