Each cloak was fastened about the neck with a brooch like a green leaf veined with silver.
`Are these magic cloaks?' asked Pippin, looking at them with wonder.
`I do not know what you mean by that,' answered the leader of the Elves.

oo, they look tasty!! [In reply to] Can't Post

To quote a certain orc... What are they? They look like lemon curd donuts - delicious! I love pancake day - alas I'm working this evening so won't have time to make any myself, but I'm glad to know others are keeping up traditions! I expect my mother will be cooking crepes suzette this evening! Personally I like the old fashioned thin, English style pancakes with lemon and sugar... mmmm.

I not only partook in pancakes... [In reply to] Can't Post

...I ran in the Ladies Pancake Tossing Race through the centre of Melbourne! We had to wear mandatory headscarf, skirt and apron, and toss a pancake in asmall frying pan as we ran. I came about middle of the group, so didn't get the $250 prize money, but did get to keep the fryng pan, and have free pancakes at The Pancake Parlour who sponsor the event (plus a Gentlemens' Pancake Eating Race)

Well [In reply to] Can't Post

I would've eaten pancakes, had I known (any excuse will do). But I made some molasses cookies yesterday and didn't take the time to chill the dough, so they completely flattened out in the oven and looked like very thin dark brown pancakes! Or as my son said, "Mmm...sausage."

Where's Frodo?

Fasnacht/ Fastnacht Day [In reply to] Can't Post

or Donut Day here in Pennsylvania.
I couldn't get any "official" ones from Grandma this year, so I had to settle for a cream-filled donut from the bakery.

If only I had known! [In reply to] Can't Post

Now it's no longer National Pancake Day, and I've missed my chance to indulge! Next year, please give a little advance warning! Your picture is killing me!

And as it's too late for pancakes, I'll have to go in search of a muffin.

Goodness, everything has a special day (or week, or month). There's a Strawberry Festival Day coming up in June and it's the one I NEVER miss.

Very much like lemon curd doughnuts [In reply to] Can't Post

But there are several fillings to choose from - raspberry, blueberry, cream. They're full of calories, but delicious.

I made double the amount of mix [In reply to] Can't Post

So we had three pancakes each. Greedies!

We also were able to use the real maple syrup that my Mum and Dad brought back from their visit to our relatives in Boston. Absolutely wonderful!
