Ronan Keating auditions for The Hobbit... ! or ? Can't Post

A couple of online news sites are reporting that Ronan Keating is moving to Hollywood to pursue a career in acting (see text in red below). However, it also seems that the origin of these reports is none other than a certain ill-reputed site whose credibility (with Tolkien fans here at least) is questionable. So no, I'm not posting a link to the article in question, but if you google the keywords "ronan keating hobbit" you should see what I'm talking about.

Well, here's the relevant bit anyway...

Ronan: "We [meaning he and his family] are going there [meaning Los Angeles] in July, Yvonne and the kids. We'll get the kids enrolled in school there. It may be for six months or we could even give it a year. We'll see what happens. I've done a couple of castings... I've done an audition for The Hobbit. That starts shooting in New Zealand in July so we'd be based there for quite a while instead of LA if it happens."

Sorry for being idiotic about this but I don't want to direct traffic to a site that doesn't deserve it Unimpressed

Whoohooo [In reply to] Can't Post

If one can playback, one can act.
So we got our cast almost ready! We got our Sauron/Necromancer! It will be scary if he starts to sing.. I surely will be hiding behind my coke and putting popcorn in my ears..

Spiderman for Bard, and Jedward as Smaug! Go for it!

hmmmm... maybe... [In reply to] Can't Post

I wonder how animated his expressions can be. Mr. Keating has stern down good as seen on his website, but Bilbo has a full range of emotions to achieve. Also seen in his website, he's playing in and around NZ over the next several weeks. Who knows? ;)

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Not terribly worried [In reply to] Can't Post

Look at this article: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/...-hobbit-c60bd6d.html

Keating joins a long line of celebrities who have been linked to the project - Tobey Maguire, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, The Office actor Martin Freeman and James McAvoy have all been rumoured to be involved.

Remember the rumours about Maguire, Radcliffe, and McAvoy; and more importantly, how they've been crushed? (Martin Freeman might still be in, I don't think that rumour was squelched yet.) I'm hopeful that this guy doesn't get it either; from what I can tell he doesn't seem very hobbit-like, or Middle-earth-like in general.
