what kinds of continuity problems do you fear most?

Thanks for replying, and a nice reply at that:) I'd like to hear what you fear most to lose in terms of the continuity between LoTR and The Hobbit. I believe Bilbo needs to look younger, so I would expect that Ian Holm for instance won't reappear at any rate. As for myself I would miss PJ's Hobbiton and the Shire, because he did that so well. It will be difficult to pull off Gollum as well without Andy Serkis. Jackson ought to do a great Beorn as well, since he knows how to bring in the old Norse building style. Apart from that I find the Hobbit to be so different from LoTR, both in level of detail, settings, characters, plot, that I don't really fear there will be so many issues with continuity, although of course the general style of another director's Middle Earth will be different. I have seen Jackson's LoTR an excessive number of times as well. I don't know if I would see the Hobbit as often as LoTR simply because there is not the same depth and wealth of detail to the story, although I do like the themes Tolkien explores in the second part of the book and his way of doing it. The Hobbit requires a different approach from LoTR in order to succeed and I guess I'm just looking forward to see what someone - whoever that is - will make of it.
