Marriage Ceremonies in Middle-earth

Hello, this is my first time posting here and I wondered if any of you could help with a question of mine. I'm looking for information on marriage ceremonies for the race of man within Middle-earth, as I'm meant to be incorporating it into a roleplaying game and want it to be as authentic as possible. So far all I've turned up is that the bride is normally given away by her father and there's a few customs regarding giving presents. Anyone able to help with a bit more information? Thanks, Eldaseldo

The information is pretty scant.

Tolkien seems to have focused more on betrothals, perhaps because the question of whether the wedding ceremony was at all religious in nature might arise. And elves seem to have married with little or no ceremony involved. In terms of ceremonies in general, in which oaths are involved, you could look at Merry and Pippin swearing allegiance to Rohan and Gondor, respectively, although there is no marriage involved.

Poetry has been to me an exceeding great reward; it has soothed my affliction; it has multiplied and refined my enjoyments; it has endeared my solitude; it has given me the habit of wishing to discover the Good and Beautiful in all that meets and surrounds me. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge White Gull's Fanfic
