Let's celebrate the coming 20th anniversary of FOTR!

We're about a week away from when, 20 years ago, the cinema doors opened at midnight to let the most eager of Tolkien fans finally get their first look at Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring. Twenty years. Crikey. Where did they go? Feel free to post up anything you wish to mark the occasion: photos of moots you've attended, artwork, your costumes from over the years, quizzes, poetry challenges, mathoms from years gone by - whatever you like. Indulge your Geek Side and let's raise a mug of 1420 to mark the movie that sent us off on this amazing TORN experience! (I'll start us off shortly with a wee activity.) Cheers, everyone! Merry Twentieth!
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. Fantasy novel - The Arcanist's Tattoo My LOTR fan-fiction

And thanks to TORn, I've had ooodles of adventures over the past 20 years! I just did a count of how many Moots I've had since joining TORn, and I came up with approx. 54 since the first one in 2002 to the last one (so far) in NZ with Lissuin in 2018. They include Oscar Parties, ORC/DragonCon/other Conventions, Museum Moots, NYC Music/Movies, Musical, NZ mini-moots (2010 & 2018) and lots of other mini-moots, movies, etc. 2003 me, humblehobbit, ScoutB, Jewel Took, gollum's precious, and some moot crashers! How many of these brilliant sibbies can you name? Gathering at Roheryn's the weekend of 2004 RotK Oscars 2004 Oscars Family Photo Still Oscars weekend

It was early the morning after the Oscars and they had just finished a radio broadcast where I had just been beforehand. They were on their way outside to do a NZ tv interview when they stopped to talk to Susie Knight (Red Carpet Tours exec) and me. They were SO VERY gracious and enthusiastic when speaking with me about the Party and my LotR viewings. Richard Taylor handed me his Oscar and took my baggie full of ticket stubs (61 RotK viewings) to look at. Then Jamie Selkirk and he had to take off to do the interview and Taylor left with my baggie and TT book! I chased after them to get my stuff back... still holding the Oscar (very heavy!). So Taylor is still holding my book and baggie in this pic taken after the tv interview that Susie and I were invited to be a part of. Then Selkirk and Taylor signed my TT book. What an adventure... all thanks to TORn!!!!!!

I hadn't realized you'd not seen that one before. It might be difficult to discern at that size, but did you notice who the "some guy" was?

1) Who was it? 2) What was the occasion, and who were the stars?

The main attraction during the moot was to attend a performance of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, with Howard Shore conducting his LotR Symphony. That's him in the brown shirt, surrounded by a group of us, after the performance. The full group had also gone to an art museum earlier that day. They had an assortment of Tolkien-related artwork on display; some of which was Alan Lee's, who also happened to be in attendance at the museum that day. He shook hands with many, if not all, of us. Unfortunately, I personally don't have photos of the museum visit, but I know some exist.
