War of the Sauron and Elves battle in the show? Can't Post

What's the likelyhood that we could see the battle on screen?

Pretty high, IMO [In reply to] Can't Post

It is just too much of a cinematic event to exclude, and no screen writer or director with any sense of dramatic imagery would pass on the opportunity to show Celebrimbor's mauled body carried as a banner by Sauron's troop (an event described in the text, which would please the die-hard fans).

We also know that the role of Celebrimbor was cast (Tom Budge) and that it has been re-cast. So Celebrimbor has a part to play in the show, which pretty much guarantees that we will see Annatar, the forging of the rings and the Battle of Sauron and the Elves in some capacity.

I would say that there are three ways for the war to be depicted:

1. It is shown in J.A. Bayona's two episode prologue.

2. If the timeline of the second age has been condensed, it could also be shown during the regular seasons (along with the Annatar/Celebrimbor storyline and the forging of the rings of power), playing out alongside the Númenor storyline.

3. It could also be shown in flashbacks.

Now now Bill, you swore this was a battle between warriors, not a bunch of miss nancies, so warriors is what I brought

Any particular battle? [In reply to] Can't Post

The War of the Elves and Sauron was fought from S.A. 1693 to 1701. Eregion was overrun and Celebrimbor slain in 1697; is this what you are specifically thinking of?

Unless we see some major compression of the timeline, I think we'll see the War played out either in the two Bayona episodes or in flashback (maybe both). I will admit to being opposed to moving the War of the Elves and Sauron to the later Second Age so that the fleet of Ar-Pharazon is the event that ends it.
