until I saw the trailer with Rosamund Pike as Moiraine. Whoever cast her in that role probably never read the books. I am most definitely not a Rosamund Pike fan to begin with and she is about as far from Moiraine as my imagination can imagine. Casting for both LOTR and The Hobbit was excellent once Stuart Townsend was replaced by Viggo Mortensen. Casting for Game of Thrones was as if the characters stepped out of the pages onto the screen - it was perfect. This - well, I'll give it a try.

Can Rosamund Pike portray Moraine...sure, she is a good actress - but will have to wait and see how all of these actors portray their characters. Did you have some actresses in mind for the role of Moraine?

Moiraine was petite, in sharp contrast to her immense power. Personally I do not feel that Rosamund Pike is a particularly good actress; her facial expression hardly varies, nor does her voice, and her voice's pitch is much deeper than I would expect from Moiraine, (aside from when she's channeling big time!). Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Emilia Clarke come to mind - all around 5'2" and all capable of projecting power with face, voice and body language. Alicia Vikander would be another choice, although she is 5'6". Even Winona Ryder or Christina Ricci would be better than Pike IMHO. But that is not for me to decide. *sigh*

jumped way up on my list of favorite actresses because of "Stranger Things." I thought she was amazing in that. Having to play a character whom everyone else thinks is batty . . . but she's not . . . she carried it off well.

But she is still too tall! And she looks quite odd with dark hair. And yes, the eyebrows are distracting.
