Why The Mirkwood Spiders will give you Nightmares Can't Post

1.Guillermo del Toro is a fan of insects, in all his films there are insects.
2.Pan's Labyrinth's insects were very realistic, and that was without WETA!
3.It is one of Guillermo del Toro's favorite scene along with Riddles in the Dark
4.WETA's Shelob is the most realisitc Spider ever, imagine Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson do with the Spider army!

I know what you mean, after seeing Arachnaphobia, I have had a fear of Spiders. But really Huntsman spiders are nothing compared to Sydney Funnel Spiders! I hope I never encounter one!

You combine Guillermo del Toro's Imagination(Which would make Tim Burton cry) and Peter Jackson's realistic vision and you have a nightmare beyond Shelob or the Insect Canyone From King Kong!

Don't know [In reply to] Can't Post

I know they do in the book, but the challenge will be to have them talking without it descending to the ridiculous. There's been similar worries over the talking animals too.

And the spiders lair, I know I hate it whenever I walk into a spiders web, but a whole nest of em!!! *shudder*

True about the Talking animal thing, but really Harry Potter did it, and so did the Chronicles of Narnia.

But mabey it is best not to have talking animals in The Hobbit.

AAARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGH [In reply to] Can't Post

That was effing disgusting Elven. You need a good arse paddling for that!
I dislike Spiders rather intently. The ones I've encountered probably don't
Like me much either. And they can't be keen on my cat. If ever there was
as scene I didn't care to see. I'll have to cover my daughter's eyes with one
hand and my own with the other. Nasty, irregular, hideous things.
I wouldn't be suprised to learn that Melkor really had envisioned
and come up with the ghastly cretins.

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

Tricksy Elven [In reply to] Can't Post

Makes us look at nassty spiders Unsure

Honestly, it gave me a shock... and not in the nice way. I've never been scared of spiders, and when I was young, I used to carry the ones that seemed lost and put them back in their web Crazy I have one little chap in my bike's boot 'neath my seat and he gets a free ride to work and home everyday... though I'm not sure he knows it.

But this here spider looks hairy and pokey and nassty and ready to jump, see how the forelegs are raised up... and I don't think I'd like the chap anywhere near me.

Crows and Gibbets! What is The House Of Eorl but a thatched barn where brigands drink in the reek, and their brats roll around on the floor with their dogs! You are but a lesser son of greater Sires.

Spider in the mouth [In reply to] Can't Post

When I was little, I woke up from a dream in which I imagine a spider crawl into my mouth. As I opened my eyes I felt something on my lip spat and brushed it off to find a spider land on my bedcover ontop of me. Funnily enough I'm not terrified of spiders, but they (particularly the thick hairier ones) are very alien and creepy. Especially when they move so fast!

Bring em on! I'll be cheering for Bilbo.

Argh! [In reply to] Can't Post

Spiders terrify me! Shelob was scary enough on her own, imagine a whole troop of them!

Once, a few years back, I awoke in the middle of the night to find a HUGE spider sat on the wall opposite my bed. Tried to ignore it but couldn't sleep knowing it was there. Couldn't get out of the door without passing it... so... I tried calling my dad, who was sleep in his room down the hall. My calling didn't wake him, so I resorted to phoning him from my mobile! He came rushing into my room to see what was wrong. When he saw the spider, he was not amused! Tongue

I'm scared to death of them... [In reply to] Can't Post

and I have been known to leave the room and close the door behind me if there is a spider in the room. I now it's ridiculous since I'm many times their size, and I'm talking non-poisonous spiders.

But if the Mirkwood spiders talk, they will just become an item of ridicule for me. I like someone here's idea of having them communicate telepathically. Then, the horror would remain.

Hanging out with the Lonely Isle elves.

Not scared of no spidah [In reply to] Can't Post

I must be the ungirliest girl in the spider department. They don't scare me. Not to say I want one crawling on me, but they're a mere hand-slap or well-placed-shoe away from squishdom, if they do.

We get tarantulas migrating through my area, and sometimes they come inside to make nests. I'll come home to find the laundry room door is shut (it's where the cat boxes live, so it should be open) and my husband (the scaredy) demanding I do something about the GINORMOUS spider in there. I guess they get in through the dryer vent or something. Usually, if the thing cooperates, I can catch it in a cup or something and release it outside where it'll have an easier time finding food than in my laundry room.

Once, while I was very very ill, I awoke at 3am to hear my husband calling for me to save him. He was apparently "trapped" in the kitchen by a spider on the wall that was less than an inch across. I never let him forget that one.

Nice spider, Elven [In reply to] Can't Post

As long as she is coming nowhere near me! *shudder*

I'm not afraid of spiders, but I don't like them, either, and particularly the thick, hairy sort. Luckily we get them usually only in the cellar. I certainly don't want to touch one!

I do not suffer from LotR obsession - I enjoy every minute of it.
