The Nature of Middle-earth Can't Post

My copy arrived a few minutes ago and I'm already engrossed!

The entry under 3.XVIII, the snappily titled "Note on the Delay of Gil-galad and the N鷐en髍eans", is incredible food for thought. Orcs who laughed at Sauron when he was wearing his Second Age 'fair form', no less...!

I'll hold off posting until we have critical mass and enjoy the read in the meantime :)

Thanks! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been avoiding using Amazon, which tends to delay when I get things like this. However, don't hesitate to post thoughts on my behalf! Since I am reviewing the book I will probably avoiding reading other people's thoughts until I've had a chance to form my own opinions. (Or at least that is the tentative plan Wink ).

bookstore find [In reply to] Can't Post

Found a copy in a bookstore on Thursday. . . bought it, cancelled my pre-ordered copy before it was shipped (wasn't sure when it was going to be shipped).

Have read and begun pondering all Galadrielian references so far . . . which lead me to note 6 to the text
(15 Aug 1965) Elvish Ages & Numenorean.

Erm. Does the text here -- albeit struck out -- say what I think it says about Amroth Smile

radical stuff! [In reply to] Can't Post

I had a feeling you'd apply the Mirror of Galadriel to NoMe pretty quick! And yeah, I think it does say what you think it says. And not so much as a 'by your leave' from Manw in sight!

. . . well, I'm not going to spoil it for you!

I tend to . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

(G)NOME or GNOME because I tend to HOME . . .

. . . as well as LOTR and OTROPATFA!

That said, I think I've been using ATB instead of AOTB, and sometimes HME (not HOME), so I may need to rethink the HOLE thing!

No one says OTROPATFA [In reply to] Can't Post

Just sayin'...

I thought deeply before I could decipher the hidden meaning. I admit I was confused because of the similarity with the well known OTROPATTA, which is a staple of discussions here in the Reading Room, of course.

I doubt that would come up much as the Great Rings were rendered powerless by the start of the Fourth Age. Wink
