Battle of Powers: A more spiritual battle than physical? Can't Post

This is just pure theory from me, but I wonder if the little information we have about the Valar's war against Melkor during the Years of the Trees, is just that it was more a spiritual battle? Sure we have physical beings such as newly corrupted orcs, but I believe some of them were Maiar spirits. Balrogs are well semi-spiritual together with Sauron. But I remember reading that Melkor had a lot of wraiths, phantoms and other cruel spiritis helping him. So maybe the numbers of Melkor's army was not huge. A battalion ranging from a 100- 300. But it was more quality than quantities. Also Melkor probably made Utumno a living weapon itself. This probably explains why the Valar siege of Utumno was long and terrible.

Lay down mountains, alter coastlines and change the courses of rivers, so I think that some parts of the Battle was physical. But there would have been some spiritual involved of course!
