Pretending is just fine Unless you want a milk cow like I do, in which case your neighbors might have a little something to say about that

It ends(starts?) in Boston! And the western end is at Seattle. But I don't know if it's the longest interstate in the States.

I looked it up: 3, 024 miles. Or 3,101, depending on who you ask. I've driven as far east as Livingston, Montana on it (700 miles). It's a beautiful road, in the west anyway, between the cities. The best view of the Stuart Range in Washington is from a rest stop near Cle Elum; we never miss stopping there. https://www.summitpost.org/stuart-range/700239

I thought it ended in Minnesota! I know the Seattle side very well-we've driven that stretch a lot in my life (my family briefly lived in Tacoma when I was young, then in high school briefly lived in Centralia and Sumner, WA, and my grandma lives in Spokane. Now I live just over the border in Idaho). That does make me wonder which one is. I bet it's a strong contender for the longest though! EDIT- just looked it up and I-90 is, in fact, the longest one in the US

Now that is a "restful" view, definitely worth making the stop!

and even gave me directions on how to avoid their hooves while doing so. Every once in awhile when the subject of milk cows came up, she'd exclaim "Ol' Bossy!" the generic, affectionate term, I gathered. I shall walk around my yard yelling that and see if the inspectors show up.

We like to take it just until it hits the road going down to Cape Cod. I love Boston, but driving there is the stuff of nightmares.

at what people called mountains once I went East to college. But now I live in view of the Catskills, and although they're not dramatic like the Rockies, at least they do qualify (most of them).

One does not simply drive into Boston.

It's very fumes...oh, wait, it's a bit cleaner air than Mordor! I tell people: park at a train station and take that into the city. Boston really is meant for walking around in and using the subway.

Yeah, Boston is like NYC that way: not just the driving is hard, but there's so little parking.

Better to walk, subway, and Uber/taxi around the core of the city.

My husband & I flew into Boston once and drove to the Cape for a family gathering. We quickly developed this technique: I held up a road map to indicate to other drivers that we were tourists, and he drove like a bat out of h*&^. Which is how he normally drove. I didn't have the nerves for it. A friend tells this story: she was driving through Boston and stopped to let some people who were waiting at a corner use the crosswalk. They all looked at her and stepped back from the curb. Like she was just waiting for them to fall for it!

A rather huge "suburb" of Stockholm. It formally is an own municipality but it is part of great-Stockholm. When I joined this and other messageboards though I lived outside a tiny town ...
