Did you mean that subheading to read a bit differently? Like: "Elrond learns of Aragorn and Arwen's betrothal"? The proposal took place months earlier at Midsummer. And even so, I'm not that sure about this date for Aragorn's return to Rivendell. It couldn't have been too late in the year since Aragorn afterwards departed before year's end to travel to the distant East and far South. I would place the date in August or in September at the latest.
