That looks really good, thanks for posting the link - [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll watch it in full later - have just seen the first few minutes. I was aware of the Doggerland scenario, but hadn't seen that level of detail about it before. Just think, if we hadn't lost Doggerland, we'd still haev been jined up and there wouldn't have been all that ghastly to-ing and fro-ing about the UK leaving Europe! *sigh*

I can't recall the story name but Tolkien had a story about the UK floating off toward America. [In reply to] Can't Post

He also was plagued by the giant wave dream....Atlantean.....rising up to move over England.....somewhat like Doggerland super tsunami. Maybe it was an "old memory" popping up.

Speaking of supertsunamis [In reply to] Can't Post

A few years ago I saw a speculative explanation for widespread "Big Flood" stories in the ancient Middle East. The thinking was that the Black Sea we know today might have been isolated from the Mediterranean Sea and not all covered in water. Then an earthquake hit the Istanbul area, creating the Bosphorus Strait and allowing seawater to flow into the Black Sea area, wiping out whoever lived there below sea level and couldn't make it to higher elevations. Just a theory that needs a lot more exploration, but if true, it would certainly have been dramatic. (I realize there are lots of explanations for the great flood story, and most are more mundane, such as the Tigris and Euphrates experiencing catastrophic floods--that would be more likely, but not as epic.)

Yes, I believe that is historical hypothesis, in fact James Cameron had a documentary on it. [In reply to] Can't Post

That flood would have indeed been traumatic. There are several other flood events and volcano eruptions that also caused havoc and let us not forget asteroid strikes.

Some debate on the Black Sea event - https://www.whoi.edu/...hs-not-so-big-flood/
