Thanks to you all for having a go! I thought this caption was especially amusing, given that the exact opposite of this is happening in the real world at the moment due to widespread lockdown. Middle Earth, like the long-running UK radio series 'The Archers' is reassuringly virus-free.

the oliphaunt line did come to mind, but knowing the sometimes exquisitely subtle deviousness of Alveric's sense of humour, I suspected a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. "Haullicroptor" would, indeed, fit that description.
