Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

And the winner is - Squire! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks to you all for having a go! I thought this caption was especially amusing, given that the exact opposite of this is happening in the real world at the moment due to widespread lockdown. Middle Earth, like the long-running UK radio series 'The Archers' is reassuringly virus-free.

I gotta ask, Alveric, [In reply to] Can't Post

I would guess... [In reply to] Can't Post

...haullicropto is to helicopter as oliphaunt is to elephant. I don't think that's there's anything more to it. Tongue

Thanks, O-s, [In reply to] Can't Post

the oliphaunt line did come to mind, but knowing the sometimes exquisitely subtle deviousness of Alveric's sense of humour, I suspected a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. "Haullicroptor" would, indeed, fit that description. Laugh

I'm glad to know... [In reply to] Can't Post

... that I've actually got a rep for subtle deviousness and mystery! I am the Puffin of Enigma! But actually in this case it's just a riff on Look Mr Frodo, it's an oliphaunt!
