Caradhras defeated us!

Yes, I am afaid to say that Caradhras won again. I was with a bird-watching party in Scotland. The far-north Highlands of Scotland in fact. It was a bit snowy, particularly in the mountains. But our guides decided to go a certain way, up one of the said mountains. But it was very snowy. And it started to snow and blizzard quite a bit, a little like trying to go up the Misty Mountains in Lotr. At least, I was thinking a bit of that whilst we where travelling, all around us was white snow. When the party had a discussion and we decided it was best to abandon the pass of the mountains. A little like the Lotr tale, I was thinking. And strangely as our bus went down, after just a little way the snow cleared. Again, just like the tale. Which was what I was thinking of. Though admittedly we where not then chased by Wolves or had to go through the Mines of Moria. We did see some eagles, however! So Caradhras won again.

always the smart move to head on back in such cases.
I am a dreamer of words, of written words. I think I am reading; a word stops me. I leave the page. The syllables of the words begin to move around … The words take on other meanings as if they had the right to be young. -- Gaston Bachelard * * * * * * * * * * NARF and member of Deplorable Cultus since 1967 my blog: https://jodybower.com/myths-archetypes-in-film/

And snow storms are weird in their coverage, aren't they? I often think things should be a little more gradual in where they taper off, because that's how rain and the wind work, but snow has its own mind.
And strangely as our bus went down, after just a little way the snow cleared.

I'm very glad you all got through that safely and now have warm toes; but WHAT A PARALLEL to the Fellowship's ordeal. Sorry... the geek in me is so envious that you recognized what was going on ;) *high five* Just so long as you didn't seek refuge in a deserted mine... it's all good!
We have been there and back again. TIME Google Calendar
