Well, everyone hates moral and ethical philosophers, of course [In reply to] Can't Post

or whatever the running gag line was. What is remarkable about the show is that they mock philosophy while also taking it seriously, having their cake and eating it too. And they wove big ethical questions into the plot, not obscurely, but not hitting you over the head either. So yes, it really does operate on a higher level than any current sitcom I can think of.

And thanks for the words to keep going, since I was about to give up, or maybe just as bad, have it on in the background when I'm doing something else, which means I'd only be half paying attention and just trying to follow major plot points.

I do like the diversity of the cast--imagine an afterlife that represents the world and not a white suburb?

Another running gag is relevant to me because I worked with a woman who would always correct me any time I referred to her college as a "girl's college," and she'd insert "woman's college" and move along, just like Janet the AI does whenever Jason says, "I love you, girl." >> "Not a girl."

I'm not planning to [In reply to] Can't Post

Life is too short! Plus although I mostly enjoyed the first series, I did find the show in general too self-consciously clever, which irritated me.
