Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! December 12 Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Travellers!

T'is the season to be out there gathering mileage! :D Holiday shopping is definitely one of the best ways to rack up the miles as you face humanity at the malls! Unless you're mainly working online. I have to warn you.... you've got to have a lot of keyboard action accumulate even a mile; but it can be done :D It all adds up... albeit very slowly.

My mileage building has shifted now that I'm off the paved Road and am focusing on the Hobbit Charts Road. *upchuck* Cleaning *urp* Mine Home has been neglected this past Fall, so I'm throwing myself at the mathomy mess whilst blasting some inspiring music (Queen, REM/Cure mix, Rolling Stones, and Bob Seger (my Michigan Boy!))

How are you doing on your Quest? Do you have a goal for the end of the year/New Year coming up? DO TELL!

Gandalf, Bilbo the dwarves and I are still dealing with our encounter with the goblin-filled mountain. Bilbo has just run out the Back Door and is trying to find the rest of the Company. It sure is bright out after being in the dark for so long!

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you on the Road!

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! December 19 [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!
Here we are in the final days before Christmas! Are you building any mileage running around getting gifts together? Have you found it's more of an effort with the crowds? I find I get moved around faster when I'm caught in a mob on a mission; but I inevitably get caught more often behind a set of people walking side-by-side at an easy pace chatting away and oblivious that they've got a traffic jam building up behind them! *puff, pant*

That said... I love the mileage I've built up this past week :D The funny thing is I already have all my shopping done. I just like the energy, music, and people-watching that nothing like a mall visit can offer ;) However... tomorrow... Friday the 20th... I'll be sitting at the theatre watching Star Wars! :D Got my ticket last Tuesday *slaver, slurp*

So how are you doing? Are you ready for the Holidays coming up? Have you still got some running to do? FARE THEE WELL! and FA-LA-LA!! There's nothing like this time of the year! :D

Meanwhile, Gandalf, Bilbo, the dwarves and I are sitting high up in some trees watching the frothing wolves down below! I think I'd rather be at the mall! But look! I see something flying towards us... coming fast!!

*waves fondly* See you on the Road!

Greeting Fellow Walkers!

I hope you've had a great Holiday Season so far. This time next week we'll be welcoming in the New Year -- 2020!! Here's hoping it's the BEST YEAR EVER!

Have you got plans yet on how you're going to rid yourself of the extra pounds you've acquired from the awesome food surrounding the Holidays? I've done the tradition proud by overindulging; but I went into this knowing the danger. *sigh* BRING IT ON! :D

Meanwhile, back on the Road, Gandalf, Bilbo, the dwarves and I have made it to Beorn's for a bit of a respite and some welcome time under a dry roof and facing plates full of food!! Beorn is a terror, fersher... especially if you happen to be a goblin! But he's proving to be an incredible host and a formidable partner.

I hope you have a great Holiday week and that your journey on the Road is safe, fruitful, and completely satisfying! *waves fondly*

Happy New Year Fellow Travellers!! :D

Hopefully, he's going to leave enough to share with us by the time he gets here!

We've made it to the New Year and a New Decade! *tosses confetti* Welcome and Well Met!

So how have you been doing with this Holiday Season? Do you have targets of accomplishment for this coming year? I haven't broken my New Year resolution of losing 10 lbs yet... but it's only been less then 2 days. I am determined, though!!

Gandalf, Bilbo, the dwarves and I have just left Beorn's and are headed for Mirkwood. Beorn was very generous in packing our packs and giving leave for his ponies (and a horse) to carry us there. Bilbo has noticed a huge bear following along in the distance, but Gandalf shushes him every time he starts to bring it up. TRUST THE WIZARD!

*raises still empty mug waiting for keg* Here's to you one and all and wishing you a healthy, happy, prosperous and the best year EVER!

Greetings Fellow Walkers!!

How are you faring at getting back into your daily routine now that all of the Holiday Hub-bub is settling into history? AND how are you faring on your Quest... your Walk? Are you following along with the Fellowship or the Company in The Hobbit in your journey? I have great fun seeing how my mileage fits into the charts and where I am as I follow their actions :D Right now, Gandalf, Bilbo, the dwarves and I are riding from Beorn's home to Mirkwood. I'm really not in a hurry! It's nice to be riding and not walking and to not be worrying as much about trouble. Between the escort of Gandalf and Beorn, I'm thinking we're about as safe as can be expected ;)

Tell us how you're doing and which chart you're following... or if you're plowing through the wilds all by your onesies?

*waves fondly* See you on the Road!

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

I hope you're days are fine and free from stress, unfulfilling work, and any discomforts :) What? Did you just roll your eyes? *tsk* You know how to lift your mood and situation above all these RL challenges.... read LotR and get WALKING (or something more funner for exercise!)!! :D Whether your in the heat of Summer or cold of Winter, there are things to do that give you a rest from RL demands... even if it's just for half an hour. YOU'RE WORTH IT!

I've been on my treadmill A LOT this week because I've been mostly standing/sitting whilst making a costume for my youngest g'son. I'd never heard of the character, but he asked if I could make a Blitzo coat for him. He NEVER asks for anything... a champion of young men... and he's 4 months away from HS graduation, so he's definitely getting his coat!

In the meantime, Gandalf, Bilbo, the dwarves and I are very close to Mirkwood as the trees are getting closer and closer. We still have an escort pacing us in the distance... some kind of BIG bear, which gives Bilbo and me a strange mix of anxiety and comfort.

Please let us know what you're doing for your Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! :D

See you on the Road!

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! January 23 [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

I hope you are enjoying peaceful days, hearty activities and an occasional bowl of ICE CREAM! Ice Cream fixes everything :D

In my neck of the woods here in mid-Michigan, I finally got to shovel some snow! That may sound strange, but this late in January usually has me working on my 4th or 5th time tackling a heavy snowfall. This is only the 2nd time since early December. Don't get me wrong! I'm enjoying not fighting sub-zero temps like we had here this time last year; but I'm hoping these higher temps don't translate into a scalding summer. So having the chance to toss some snow for about 90 minutes was a welcomed workout. More welcome was not suffering any sore muscles afterwards! At 67yo, that's very much appreciated!

How are you faring? Do you have a winter workout... or a summer workout routine? Are you translating your activity into Chart Mileage? It's not necessary; but I think it's great fun imagining myself walking with The Company or The Fellowship :D

Gandalf the Dwarves and I have finally come to the edge of Mirkwood. As usual, Gandalf is giving us a little instruction after dropping the bomb on us that he was taking off. SAY WHAT!?! And so it begins...

*waves fondly* See you on the Road!

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! January 30 [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

...and WELL MET here at the end of January! Wow... it seems like we were just unwrapping gifts and tossing confetti!! I hope your life has returned to normal(ish) and that your routines are well re-established. Mine had... until 2 days ago. omg... I finally gave in and got the Dish Hopper3 and signed up for Amazon Prime (cha-ching) so I can watch the upcoming LotR TV series! I was up until 4am this morning just playing with the darn thing and went nuts programming all of the television shows I love to watch but always had to choose this one over that one! Now I have captured them all and have them in my clutches *rubs hands together* MWAHA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA!!!! BUT... I still got 3 hours of walking done on my treadmill yesterday.

So how are you coming along? :D I hope your mileage is built on things you enjoy or is due to some productive activity... like a massive winter cleaning *upchuck* or building and organizing some serious bookcases (on my list). Whatever you're up to... enjoy the moment!

Meanwhile, in Middle-earth... Gandalf took off at a full gallop and Bilbo, the dwarves and I are well down the elven path into Mirkwood. WHAT WAS I THINKING!?

*waves fondly* See you on the Road... and have a great week!!

I wonder if I shall ever look down into that valley again' [In reply to] Can't Post

OK, I'm finally joining the walking challenge, and today a friend and I walked past various hospitals in Boston, Fenway Park, and some fens near Fenway Park, all in all getting us to the first slopes of Green Hill Country. The sky threatened rain but didn't carry out that threat; instead it was just gloomy and gray/grey all day.

Lots of other people out walking on a Saturday that wasn't too cold. None of them Black Riders or ruffians, so we didn't have to hide behind any trees or ask any passing Elves for refuge. We did see a lot of ducks on the water, and quite a few geese too. We'll probably go walking in that spot again in a month or two, so I guess I will look down into that valley again, but then, Frodo did too.

*giggle* Walking and Looking! [In reply to] Can't Post

imho, it's fun to have my walks with a Middle-earth slant to it :D I still think I see a Ranger followed by a quick-moving line of cloaked hobbits skirting along just inside the line of trees across the field!

So awesome to have you on a Quest! I love your description of walking past the park, hospitals and then heading for the Green Hills! Watching for better weather is a big part of that Quest ;) *high five* See you on the Road!
