Amazon Prime video Can't Post

I've had prime video about a month now on a trial, and. I gotta say I'm not very impressed

From the menu system to the streaming quality, a whole host of glitches and freezing, 4k not working at all and show constantly flickering in and out of sd and HD

Prime original shows are ok, and there are a couple of great ones, but generally they feel quite genric in the way they are made? I don't know but I felt the prime service lacked content and are spread thin between original content, sports, new releases and back catalogue.

I don't feel its a good home for lord of the rings TV show,, it feels it would be out of place on the service, and I'm dreadi g it being made like the majority of the American TV shows I've dipped into.

Im sitting here trying to watch a HD stream thats meant to be in 4k and keeps freezing, and it hasn't been great the whole month, netflix has always worked fine.

amazon series [In reply to] Can't Post

I love MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE. For me it is one of the best things on TV. I am very sorry to see this fourth season was the last. It is excellent.

Others like FLEABAG and MRS MAISEL - neither one is my cup of tea but they have won Emmy awards and are highly praised.

If you get their Amazon package delivers service, it becomes a good financial deal.

Currently my wife and I are rewatching all the Frasier episodes via the service.

I think it is worth it.

Uh [In reply to] Can't Post

Undone does not seem like a generic show to me at all. Man in the High Castle is an all-time classic IMHO. Carnival Row examines social issues without being preach-y, which was a major accomplishment in my book. The Boys was very thought provoking.

I get Prime Video wit my Prime membership, so the shows and movies aren't the only benefit.

The Huntsman and the She-Wolf on audio Book.

This exactly sums it up for me, you can also buy your toilet roll and watch lord of the rings on your phone whilst taking a number 2

The boys wasn't exactly thought provoking! It was watchmen lite with some more blood. I was actually really disapointed.

Im not touching carnival row with a bargepole.

I suspect [In reply to] Can't Post

the problem is with your Internet provider, not Amazon. I don't have any of those issues

Carnival Row [In reply to] Can't Post

CARNIVAL ROW was very good. It had everything you would want in a series and it makes the service well worth the money.

Not my Internet (that's exactly what amazon says) [In reply to] Can't Post

I've had it for a few more days now, and I've had streaming issues everyday, it's not My Internet because netflix and youtube can easily stream 4k no problems. I've had to either reboot routers and boxes, or reinstall or disconnect my account everyday to make the stream either play in 4k or to stop skipping.

They recently showed some Premier league matches and there was quite alot of press about People who couldn't even watch the games, very annoying when you only get a liverpool vs Everton Derby at a anfield once a year and you can't watch it!

I am enjoying jack ryan though, but the genre stuff is a bit hard work.

We're not (yet) subscribed to Amazon Prime. [In reply to] Can't Post

We do get buffering problems with any service that is routed through our Blu-ray player, especially with Netflix and to some degree with YouTube. Those problems do not plague us with Roku TV.

Hmmmm [In reply to] Can't Post

I run it via an Xbox and have no problems at all.

Does your device have a sufficient buffer?

That's too bad for you, then. You're denying yourself a worthy diversion. It's not the deepest, most meaningful show ever, but it is certainly entertaining.

I noticed [In reply to] Can't Post

when we were using a Verizon Jetpack that prime wouldn't run even though Youtube and Netflix did (at least til we capped out on data use). But as soon as we got line of sight internet available to our rural property (like satellite but it bounces off towers instead) prime ran without a hitch.

So maybe your internet speed is capable for Netflix, etc but not quite up to speed for Prime Video. Netflix, etc is capable of running at lower speeds (it buffers for a minute to recalibrate) but Prime needs a decent internet connection to really function well. Some streaming services need a minimum speed to operate efficiently, and that threshold differs depending on the streaming service used.

Have you tried doing an internet speed test to measure the upload and download speeds? There are several free ones online and it could give you an idea of what your internet is actually running and then you can compare it to Prime Video required speeds. I would average out the results of several different tests because they're not necessarily 100% accurate, but averaging will give you a good idea of actual speed.

As to the football matches, live stream is a whole other can of worms to work with because it requires even higher speeds to do real time than already set up streaming. But yeah, I wouldn't rule out slow internet because there are literally millions of people around the world who can operate Prime Video no problem (us included, which is a feat considering we live 25 miles from a large (as in more than 1,900) populated city and do not have a hardwired internet available to us).

My writing and novels:

My Hobbit Fanfiction

My historical novel print and kindle version

My historical novels ebook version compatible with all ereaders

You can also find my novel at most major book retailers online (and for those outside the US who prefer a print book, you can find the print version at Book Depository). Search "Amazing Grace Amanda Longpre'" to find it.

Happy reading everyone!

Good speed [In reply to] Can't Post

My Internet speed is solid and I get some of the fastest download speeds currently available commercially in the uk. I get 4k netflix, 4k youTube, now tv, iplayer, etc etc all Work perfectly yet I can't play the office in SD without it pausing every 30 seconds. That really is amazon's fault, and if it can't function at lower speeds the same as the other services, it won't last very long.
