Ray Henwood, actor in LotR and The Hobbit, dies aged 82. Can't Post

He was in the Council of Elrond (uncredited) and was the old fisherman who declaims "The Ptophecy" (The King beneath the mountain} in The Hobbit.

For me, [In reply to] Can't Post

he'll always be the guy from Gliding On, a 1970s TV show.

I didn't realise he was in the LOTR/Hobbit movies.

Sauron: "Mine's better."

Ohhh..... Rest in peace [In reply to] Can't Post

For so many years he was the face of so many NZ television, stage and film. I'm so glad he was a part of Jackson's telling of Tolkien's stories.

Peace...

No wonder I didn't spot him! [In reply to] Can't Post

Only his eyes are recognisable. Laugh

He was such a treasure. [In reply to] Can't Post

We've seen him in live theatre several times over the years, and of course that lovely voice is always recognisable.

A lovely man, by all accounts, and one who'll be much-missed.

Rest in peace, dear man.

I was told by someone who was on set that day [In reply to] Can't Post

that Henwood, as the old fisherman, was filmed speaking the prophecy of the dwarf king's return to Erebor. In the end that wasn't used and Bard was the one who said it. A pity that, eh?Evil
