Does anyone know if there's a map/layout Can't Post

somewhere for the inside of Erebor and Thranduil's Halls? I know we have rudimentary ideas, at least of Thranduil's Halls, in Fonstad's Atlas (that look more like the inside of an anthill than anything else) to give us the general gist of relevant areas, but I am wondering of there were any maps/layouts of Erebor and Mirkwood released for the films?

We see SO many epic shots of both, but it does make me wonder just where everything was, esp the treasure room in Erebor (where Smaug had put it all), and just the overall layouts of both.

My writing and novels:

My Hobbit Fanfiction

My historical novel print and kindle version

My historical novels ebook version compatible with all ereaders

You can also find my novel at most major book retailers online (and for those outside the US who prefer a print book, you can find the print version at Book Depository). Search "Amazing Grace Amanda Longpre'" to find it.

Happy reading everyone!

The Woodland Realm [In reply to] Can't Post

of the Woodland Realm we do get enough establishing shots to get a sense of what's where.

Erebor - not so much; too enormous. That said, the third act of The Desolation of Smaug revisits a lot of the places within Erebor, which are seen in montage in An Unexpected Journey, so one does get a sense of where the mines (where the Arkenstone is found) relative to the Forges, which we also see briefly.

RPG Maps [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry, the best I can do is point you to maps of Erebor and of Thranduil's Halls from either the Middle-earth Role Playing game (MERP) or The One Ring Roleplaying Game (TOR).

Erebor (MERP): https://merp.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Erebor

Thrandul's Halls (MERP): https://merp.fandom.com/.../Thranduil%27s_Halls

For TOR, Thranduil's Halls are mapped out in the supplement The Heart of the Wild; the interior of Erebor is mapped in another supplement: Erebor: The Lonely Mountain.

I'm not sure if there could be a map, because [In reply to] Can't Post

I seem to recall from one of my Art Of The Hobbit books that Jackson really didn't worry too much about where things were in relation to each other: he rearranged all the different components of the Erebor sets and miniatures however he felt best, and sometimes changed their positioning for different scenes, so probably there is no continuity in the geography of Erebor. As for Thranduil's Halls, I do not know.
