LOTR as "a transcribed 'Dungeons & Dragons' campaign"? Can't Post

Not the first time this angle has been played,* but there are some amusing twists here:

"The confusing parts start to make a lot more sense when you realize..."

*I see that one of the respondents to that thread, Ken "Popehat" White, remembered the delightful web comic, DM of the Rings.

Treachery, treachery I fear; treachery of that miserable creature.

But so it must be. Let us remember that a traitor may betray himself and do good that he does not intend.

That is brilliant. [In reply to] Can't Post

Except for Kevin. Laugh

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

I love DM of the Rings! [In reply to] Can't Post

And one responder showed that classic puzzle: which words are antidepressants and which are Tolkien names.

This D&D angle is great, and strangely, it DOES make sense...

Thanks for posting this! [In reply to] Can't Post

My friends and I have really enjoyed it - and it's always good to remember DM of the Rings.

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville
