Brethil's Memorial to her son: "Maybe everyone would like to meet him." Also, a special message: Can't Post

First, her thanks to you all for all your messages to her here recently! She says: "These are beautiful to read. Thank u and thank everyone."

Second, a message she urgently wants to tell us, as a mom, and also as an experienced nurse:"And so important ... if ppl would look at this site: https://parentheartwatch.org/ (Parent Heart Watch)It's recommended to screen kids 13-19 with 12 lead EKG. These cardiac killers in kids are silent and lethal. As I now know.
Over 10,000 kids a year in the US suffer a cardiac arrest. Most do not survive. Less than 8%.
Thank you !"-Brethil

The Memorial she asked me to post for her

(Brethil) "I made these for him. I'm so proud of him."

Those are so beautiful! [In reply to] Can't Post

Let's pray that her recommended screening program gains enough traction that it will be standard practice in healthcare and covered so that others don't suffer the same fate.

Our hearts are with her Heart

My writing and novels:

You can also find my novel at most major book retailers online (and for those outside the US who prefer a print book, you can find the print version at Book Depository). Search "Amazing Grace Amanda Longpre'" to find it.

Thank you, Brethil. [In reply to] Can't Post

I love the photo of Matt standing by his plane! Heart

And thanks to Brethil also for the information about Parent Heart Watch. As parents it seems improbable that our kids could have any possible heart problem - all the more reason to spread the word about it!

Big huts to you, Brethil [In reply to] Can't Post

From one mom to another Heart

Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow;
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow....

Video of Matt flying [In reply to] Can't Post

With permission from Reg, here's a Youtube of him as a copilot in training in a mock combat situation, a link she sent me a few months before Matt's death. She said at the time she was "a turbo proud mom" + scared to death, haha.

Since I never met Matt but Reg spoke of him often, I enjoyed the video because it gives you a good sense of his personality. And after he was gone, I asked her to keep it on Youtube as a memorial of sorts, because his friends liked it too. To go on a little further, Matt was permitted a flyby of his school (on another occasion, IIRC), which was a thrill for him and her, plus his schoolmates all thought it was uber-cool.

Beautiful tributes [In reply to] Can't Post

Such beautiful and heartfelt tributes. Thanks so much to Brethil for sharing them with us, as well as the link to more information. I've already shared it with the parents of my young nieces and nephews.

The true tribute to Matt was how much he accomplished for someone so young and. of course, how loved he was. It's easy to see why Brethil is so proud of him.
