I've been lucky enough to lead some of the songs on occasion, though they have a 'hard core' of singers who are well established and do most of them.

So tell us your plans! And when will you be coming up New England way? (And there's this exhibit in NYC that you might want to see about getting to, in April...) Cool

oh the "eyebrows"! [In reply to] Can't Post

adorbs. What my brother calls "a cat in a pin-stripe suit."

I too was scratched up and down both arms with my Dubh, whom I am happy to report has mellowed out a LOT with time. He's a biter too. What I did with him is what I've seen momma cats do: they put a paw on the kitten's head and kind of hold them down, so I put two fingers on his forehead. He would put his ears back, but subside. He still wants to bite but if I hold my hand up he puts his ears back and subsides immediately.

He was abandoned on the doorstep of a vet clinic at about 7 or 8 weeks old. I think he was taken from his momma too soon, before she could teach him good manners.

I am a dreamer of words, of written words. I think I am reading; a word stops me. I leave the page. The syllables of the words begin to move around … The words take on other meanings as if they had the right to be young.

Yeah. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm lots more busy. Househusband is a full time job! But Wifey makes sure I know she appreciates it.

As for movies, I'm going nuts on Amazon. My latest purchases are:

Inherit the Wind (1960)
Stanley and Livingston (1939)
The Martian (Extended Edition) (2016)
Sink the Bismarck! (1960)
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943)
The Doberman Gang (1972)
The Daring Dobermans (1973)
Is Paris Burning? (1966)
Thirty Second Over Tokyo (1943)
Flame Over India (1959)
Without a Clue (1988)
The Magnificent Seven (1960)
My Liittle Pony: The Movie (2017)
Darkest Hour (2017)
The Guns of Navarone (1961)
Operation Crossbow (1965)

And some TV series:

Sharpe with Sean Bean
M Squad with Lee Marvin
Highway Patrol with Broderick Crawford
Batman the Animated Series
The Third Man with Michael Rennie
WKRP in Cincinnati (Great edition! Publisher “Shout! Factory” was able to secure music rights to over 90% of the original music!)
The Great Doctor (A Korean mini-series)

Thanks for the confetti!

(Now where'd I put that broom and dustpan?) Wink

Parks, parks, and more parks. [In reply to] Can't Post

Here's "Orson". When Wifey went to Tulsa to buy it I dreamt it spoke to me in Orson Welles' voice. (Specifically in his role as Omnicron the Planet Gobbling World from "Transformers: The Movie" (1985).)

Wifey's a big camping enthusiast but setting up and tearing down camp was getting too hard. (She likes to bring *everything* so if someone needs a left-handed melon baller she can go "Ta-da!" I think it's cute.) Now we can just drag everything around in the RV and start enjoying the park from the moment we get there.

She loves national parks and since the US has 60 of them we'll be busy for a while. Then I guess we'll start on the State Parks.

BTW, here's the bed Wifey fixed up:

I met him in Austin back in the 1970s between his first retirement and his return via the Outlaw Country genre. Really nice gentleman. He deserves his success.

We might get up in New England. I've always wanted to visit the Desert of Maine. I'll definitely be visiting my eldest brother and his family up in Mahopac. He converted to Catholicism when he married an Italian war bride from Manhattan so it'll take a while to visit everybody.

I need to stay off Amazon [In reply to] Can't Post

Just bought The Longest Day (1962), Patton (1970), and A Bridge Too Far (1977). I already got them on Beta, VHS, and DVD but I need them on Blu-ray, right?

Oh, yeah! Just remembered I need to check if I can update my VHS of "Kate Bush: Live At Hammersmith Odeon" (1979). Ah! There's a used DVD import! And there's one copy left!! And it's $741.49!!! (Er, wait...)

Good luck! [In reply to] Can't Post

I do have to use the disclaimer that my cats, while young, weren't kittens. One was about 3 and one was about 1. If it doesn't work, try it again when he's mellowed a bit and realizes that you're walking away and ignoring him as opposed to challenging him to a different game. Laugh

To Have and Have Not (1944) (Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall)
Arrival (2016) (Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams)
Mitty (The Secret Life Of) (2013) (Ben Stiller, Kristen Wiig) - Stiller directs... stunning scenery
Gaslight (1944) (Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer)

You've met Willie Nelson! [In reply to] Can't Post

He's my Dutch husband's favorite US singer. On the Road Again has been our road song for (gulp!) 40 years. Pack car, strap in, sing the song, and we're off. You folks have a great time with Orson and Willie. We'll look forward to photos from all those great parks. Smile

That's "in the neighborhood"! [In reply to] Can't Post

Recommendations:

Cape Cod with Cape Cod National Seashore. Not in the summer - avoid it then - but in the fall, October is best I think, you can still enjoy walks on the beaches and the traffic is considerably less. Nickerson State Park campground is near the Cape Cod Rail Trail, if you like to bike.

Acadia National Park in Maine, on Mount Desert Island. (Just visit the Desert of Maine and keep heading north on Route 1.) Scads of carriage roads and paths for walking and some biking. Do NOT park the RV on the Bar at Bar Harbor, but do rent sea kayaks and set out from there. And stand on Cadillac Mt. as the sun rises so you're one of the first things its rays touch in the U.S. that day. And try the lobster ice cream (daughter claimed it's yummy).

Mount Washington...I could go on and on...

It's a well-earned retirement from an impressive and dangerous job.

Enjoy!
