That's the key, and Jackson has nothing to say about that, as far as we know.

Well, as noted in some other threads, PJ has implied he is involved in some way with the scripts (maybe just as an advisor)

I would probably have done if I'd made the movies...I think it does add an element of 'not taking ourselves too seriously' that most other epic/fantasy movies etc would not. I don't think it's bad at all. To pretend that people in that setting aren't real people who make real jokes etc is a little too unrealistic and pretentious (something I am very grateful that PJ is not!)
