When Mirkwood was still Greenwood the Great, the hill upon which Dol Guldur would be built was known as Amon Lanc ("Bald Hill") and was the capital of the Silvan Elves under Oropher. Tolkien Gateway is a terrific on-line resource!

Thank you; yeah, that's what I'm talking about. (I need to get a copy of Unfinished Tales: I've read it a bunch of times, but that was a while ago now and some of the more obscure details are a little fuzzy in my memory). Thank you, also, to Ithilisa

This was an easy choice for me. I'm all for forgiveness, reconciliation and returning to your roots.

oh look... there's the character I played all through my 20s and 30s... (D&D, living history, etc... yep, there she is) seriously a nice addition for those of us women who felt that, despite the attractiveness of all those guys, it was necessary to have some females to identify with...

Along those lines, I did write up a version of Tauriel as a pre-generated player-character for a session of The One Ring Roleplaying Game that I ran at a local gaming convention a few years ago. If I remember right, I made her a Wood-elf Warden. My spouse took her and had a blast.
