Lord of the rings of the rings Can't Post

How many valuable and pretty gemstones are there? Well, emerald, ruby, and saphire aren't that expensive and are harder than any metal. Finding a valuable and pretty purple gemstone has been difficult but I just found something called Alexandrite. Very valuable. Then there's moisanite, not the prettiest but extremely valuable.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are any extremely valuable gemstones that are not mentioned on the web that they may use to make their own ring of power. I've always thought that saphire was the prettiest gemstone, but there must be a blue gemstone better than that.

topaz [In reply to] Can't Post

Another possibility for prettiest blue gemstone is topaz. But I don't think that is quite right. It is something exotic like topazinium or some such.

caperci [In reply to] Can't Post

When topazanium I was trying to reconstruct the word in my head. I found caperci by remembering the Heart of the Ocean from Titanic and doing some cross referencing. That, I think is the holiest gemstone and I think the elves left because, they made Vilya with the wrong gemstone. Also, garnet is much prettier than ruby, and according to the wiki they made narya out of ruby. Nenya, I think was made of the right gemstone. It is a rare gemstone. Horn coral is similar, but I think that's for laser guns, not holy rings for women.

Also, tanzanium, the purple gemstone, inspires avarice. When I look at it I want to say, "Come to me, my precious."

Saruman [In reply to] Can't Post

I just had a thought. Is there any indication to the color of the gemstone on Saruman ring maker's ring.

Suggestion... [In reply to] Can't Post

For information about the magic properties of substances you should ask an specialist. Try the renowned Archdruid (John Michael Greer) at Ecosophia.

Also, the Archdruid writes a "Magic Monday" post (on mondays, obviously) where he answers questions about occult matters at his Dreamwidth website.

This is fascinating! [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know much about gems... I tend to pick up rocks and pebbles along my country dirt roads when I go walking. But stopping to consider which Ring-stones were used (or possible) for receiving/transmitting power has me imagining another facet (pardon the pun) of how the Rings of Power were made! THANK YOU! You have some great ideas here!

Metaphysical Properties of Gemstones and Semiprecious Gems [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not very knowledgeable on this topic; have you tried performing a search? I am led to understand that protective qualities versus magical assaults are attributed to jade, especially if the stone has a connection to a loved one. Blue jade is supposed to be particularly effective--or so I've been told. All this seems to come from Wiccan lore. I know, I know! But one of my sisters took our mother to a spiritualist years ago who insisted that mom had great spiritual power within her. Crazy

On the other hand, this article does't mention jade at all: Gem Stones Meanings & Spiritual Powers. A more thorough search might yield better results.

Is there any way to get Youtube videos to work on this site?

Probably not. [In reply to] Can't Post

I would just identify the video and post a link.
