For those of you who know our TORnsib a.s. Can't Post

she has given me permission to post here that she is facing a rather serious medical challenge. She remains strong and still has her lovely slightly snarky sense of humor. She has a Caring Bridge site and said I could post the link here. link She's posting there about her experiences, and said she'd love to hear from people who have known her here. She doesn't post here often anymore, but checks in from time to time.

How absolutely horrible. [In reply to] Can't Post

At least she still keeps her sense of humour, and optimism.

I hope she'll get to read this. I didn't post a comment over there - she does know my real name, she might not recognise it immediately.

Dear Mary/a.s.
Words fail me upon reading the news.
But I am glad you are looking for the positive, and not giving up.
Be strong, courageous and (reasonably) cheerful in the coming fight
May your family and friends be unwavering and firm in caring and support
May the doctors be guided into making the right decisions
May the researchers who work on finding a cure succesful
And G-d's blessings to all.
Love,
David/sador

Thank you, Aunt Dora, for letting us know! And may you be the bearer of happier news as well.

Sending good wishes to a.s.! [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't claim to know Mary well, but she's been around here for several years longer than I have, and we've taken part in some great discussions. I'm glad that she's able to meet her medical challenge with strength and optimism. I am hoping for the best possible outcome for her!

Hard news to start the day [In reply to] Can't Post

We're all with you a.s. - I'll pray for strength for you and guidance for everyone who has a hand in keeping you going.

Thank you for letting us know, Aunt Dora! [In reply to] Can't Post

And for pointing us to her site, what an horrendous thing to go through. It sounds like she has excellent doctors who can fight this with her!

I wonder if we could find a first-edition Hobbit for her? Heart

a rare first edition Hobbit should be a DREAM WISH, not a real thing lol [In reply to] Can't Post

Don't go looking for an actual rare Hobbit book for me, you dear old friends (I am aware that you are only partially serious)!! -- it is better to have some things be just things you sigh about.

Besides, what would I hunt for in thrift shops, church rummage sales and used book stores??

Roads go ever ever on
Under cloud and under star
Yet feet that wandering have gone
Turn at last to home afar.
Eyes that fire and sword have seen
And horror in the halls of stone
Look at last on meadows green
And trees and hills they long have known.
