And Hossein Amini could have been the screenwriter. [In reply to] Can't Post

He scripted Snow White and the Huntsman (ugh!!) and 47 Ronin (double ugh!!)

“Did you say 'You Shall Not Pass' or 'You Shall Not Sass'?" asked the Balrog.

"I said 'You Shall Not Pass,'” replied Gandalf; "and I wish you wouldn't keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly: you make one quite giddy."

"All right," said the Balrog; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of its wings, and ending with its shadow, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

'Well! I've often seen wings without a Balrog,' thought Gandalf; `but a Balrog without wings! It's the most curious thing I ever saw in my life!’

There's no guarantee Tarantino would have agreed... [In reply to] Can't Post

Even Kubrick, *after* having made A Space Odyssey, turned down making The Lord of the Rings, being daunted by its scope.

On the flipside, some filmmakers wanted to make the films, but without a doubt were incapable of doing so: George Lucas wanted to do it in the 1970s. His early script drafts have a dialogue sequence which paraphrases the "Good morning" dialogue from The Hobbit.

He liked that dialogue. [In reply to] Can't Post

In fact, even early versions of the Star Wars script have paraphrases of that segment.

"No words were laid on stream or stone
When Durin woke and walked alone."
