**FD Party game - In Search of the Lost Consonants, Middle Earth-style Can't Post

Bit late to the party sorry folks - I plead distraction by grandsons! Anyway, here goes...

In Search of the Lost Consonants – Middle Earth edition
(after a much-missed newspaper cartoon series)
It’s amazing how much difference missing out a single consonant can make to the sense of a sentence. Here are three from each book of the trilogy which I hope will raise a smile - or a groan! Can anyone contribute others from the trilogy, or from The Hobbit? Look through the books and have a go!

Fellowship of the Ring
‘A conspiracy unmasked’ – Frodo’s restless night:
Then he heard a great nose in the distance.

‘A Journey in the dark’:
The passage twisted round a few urns, and then began to descend.

The Breaking of the Fellowship:
With a few strokes Frodo brought the boa back to the bank.

The Two Towers
‘Treebeard’:
Time was when I could walk and sing all day and hear no more than the echo of my own vice in the hollow hills.

‘The King of the Golden Hall’:
‘Let the heralds announce to the folk that the Lad Eowyn will lead them!’

‘The Palantir’:
The thought of the dark lobe seemed to grow stronger as all grew quiet.

‘The Return of the King’
‘The Siege of Gondor’:
But Faramir has told us of great strength drawing ever to the Back Gate.

‘The Last Debate’:
You will find them in the Hoses of Healing, and I will lead you thither,’ said Imrahil.

‘The Scouring of the Shire’:
Merry and Sam drew their words also and rode up to support Pippin; but Frodo did not move.

*still giggling* I love these! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I couldn't repress the thought of a cannon-sized AH-CHOO for Frodo! :D

You're not late AT ALL! Party stuff can be posted anytime! Thanks so much for sharing this :D

Here are a few!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Party
It was a dwarf with a blue bead tucked into a olden belt, and very right eyes under his ark-green hood.

The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark
ever thirsty, ever dinking, All in mail ever clinking.

The Hobbit: Flies and Spiders
Then the battle began. Some of the dwarves had knives, and some had ticks...

Treason doth neuer prosper? What's the Reason?
for if it prosper none dare call it treason.

With careful searching, some really funny words can be found. 'All that is gold does not litter...'

Another one from TTT 'The Palantir' - [In reply to] Can't Post

If Wormtongue was not deceived by the amour of Rohan, he would remember Aragorn and the title that he claimed.

(I'm quite partial to Rohan myself..Wink.)

Lord of the Rigs [In reply to] Can't Post

The now lost tale of Sauron’s oil business.

It was probably in The Hobbit: the Unexpected Part.

In US editions, can Book VI, Chapter 9 become... [In reply to] Can't Post

The Gay Havens?

Sounds like a much jollier departure point from Middle-Earth.

'King Bad! King Bad!' they shouted: but the Aster ground his chattering teeth./ [In reply to] Can't Post

And Rose drew him in, and set him on the harpsichord bench, and put little Wilhelm Friedemann upon his lap.

He began composing a fugue. 'Well, I'm Bach,' he said.

Here's an 'updated' version of a special moment:
Now Aragorn knelt beside Faramir, and held a hand upon his bro.
