Conan the Barbarian series in development at Amazon Can't Post

Amazon has announced they are producing a series based on Robert E. Howard's Conan. I think this a good thing since they can have a very graphic and violent show with Conan and keep the Game of Thrones creep out of the Middle-Earth series.

Conan + Amazon = a good fit? [In reply to] Can't Post

If Amazon does want a fantasy series with the kind of sex and violence of Game of Thrones then Robert E. Howard's Conan is a good choice. Previous attempts to adapt the Cimmerian for television (both in animation and a live-action syndicated series) were limited by network standards and practices or the needs of the syndication market. Amazon can go 'gritty' and develop a series that borrows from the tones of the original stories and the R-rated films.

Amazon Special Episode! [In reply to] Can't Post

"Conan v Aragorn: Dawn of Fellowship"

(Hey, I admit I'd watch it!)

I met a Balrog on the stair.
He had some wings that weren't there.
They weren't there again today.
I wish he would just fly away.

If there was one thing that R.E. Howard was insistent upon it was that Conan was a very violent person and somewhat of an, um, admirer of the fair sex, but I suspect (probably projection on my part) that he wouldn't like A Game of Thrones. He was too much of a romantic. But I would watch it, anyway, as I will not watch A Game of Thrones., no matter how much my older boy nags me. Pirate

We are the fighting Uruk-Hai! We slew the great warrior! Well, yeah, first he killed a bunch of us and another whole lot of Mauhr's lads, and we had to shoot enough arrows into him to drop a Mmak. But we got him!
