Well, #5 might be "Gift of Men", #7 would be a "Proud Foot," #4 a "Cold Drake" 10= "Southlinch?"

We are the fighting Uruk-Hai! We slew the great warrior! Well, yeah, first he killed a bunch of us and another whole lot of Mauhúr's lads, and we had to shoot enough arrows into him to drop a Mûmak. But we got him!

Definitely harder... [In reply to] Can't Post

A couple I don't think are correct but here goes... with the help of my trusty Foster's Guide to Middle Earth.....

1. In his senior years Kunta Kinte was called Old Toby
2. If the entryway closure is too short we would add Mordor
3. If the Lone Ranger wanted his horse to filch something he would say “Silverlode??
4. A frozen male mallard is cold drake
5. Three Edain given as presents are a Gift of Men

6. If a beautiful girl were swimming in a pool all the boys would Watcher in the Water
7. A haughty British infantry regiment is a Proudfoots… Proudfeet
8. If the letter “C” were being broken in two it would be a Bent Sea -- Sundering Sea??
9. An unadorned trombone is a Starkhorn

10. An illegal hanging in Far Harad is a Southlinch.

The blue ribbon with oak-leaf cluster for sevilodorf [In reply to] Can't Post

I have to give you credit for all ten!! Smile

Just a couple of comments:
3. If the Lone Ranger wanted his horse to filch something he would say “Silverlode??
Seems to work somewhat but some better might be “Silver! Steal! (Silver-steel)

7. A haughty British infantry regiment is a Proudfoots… Proudfeet
Just a single “Proud foot” (Proudfoot) might be better. (And do we REALLY know what the plural of Proudfoot is? I reckon “Proudfoots” as Bilbo said (twice) during his farewell speech. And not ProudFEET as one old gentle-hobbit jokingly said.

8. If the letter “C” were being broken in two it would be a Bent Sea -- Sundering Sea??
Darkstone caught me on this one. Tolkien never used the singular “Sundering Sea” in his writings that we know of. It seemed to always be “Sundering Seas”.

Cheers and many thanks for playing. Smile
