I have noticed there is a new TORn forum with new design. However, I cannot log in there with my password from here, and I don't see a registration link either.
Am I crazy?

theonering.com is a completely different site. If you want to view their forums you need to register with them. I hate to say it, though, but that looks to be a dying community.

...IIRC you have to send a private message to an admin via the "Contact Us" form under the "About" tab.
Used to they were very careful to screen out any people from TORn because, well, they liked to talk about TORn. It was kind of high-schoolish.

The TOR.com homepage hasn't had a new post since December 2013. The forums seem to be the only thing keeping the site alive. I guess that news of the Amazon series came too little too late. I don't even see a topic about it.

I couldn't help noticing that the homepage there hasn't been active for years, and the forums do not have any discussions of such current topics as the upcoming Amazon series or Cubicle 7's Middle-earth role-playing games. It's just a shame to see the TOR.com site reduced to such a state. Still, based on reports such as your own, my registration might not even get confirmed.

This would have been starting circa 2005-2006, after any controversy had died down, as far as I could tell. Among other things, they were at one point attempting to do an annotation of LOTR that I found quite interesting.
