Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Lot18 Announce "The Lord of The Rings" Wine Collection Can't Post

Hobbits, Elves and Humans can toast together this Holiday Season!

Lot18 and Warner Bros. Consumer Products unveil the new Lord of the Rings inspired wine collection.

Just in time for holiday merrymaking, Winemaker Lot18 has teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to produce a limited-edition collection of wine inspired by New Line Cinema’s THE LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy.

Worthy of a Hobbit gathering in the Green Dragon Inn itself, these bottles make a great holiday gift for any fan of the film series or fine wine lover. Each bottle includes a specially designed label, making it the perfect beverage to accompany your next meal or Middle-earth marathon!

These delicious wines are limited to 6,000 bottles each, so even after you finish them, the bottles and their exclusive labels will make a great addition to your assortment of wine favorites and LORD OF THE RINGS memorabilia. This special collection goes on sale today (December 18), and can be ordered exclusively at Lot18.com/LordOfTheRings while supplies last. The wine collection honors some of the film series’ most memorable members of the Fellowship, including Aragorn, Frodo Baggins, and Gandalf, as well as Galadriel, Lady of Lothlórien.

The new THE LORD OF THE RINGS wine collection will include the following:

2015 Aragorn Appellation Lussac - St. Émilion Contrôlée

If ever there was a wine fit for a king as mighty and honorable as Aragorn, this is it. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec, this unmatched red is from the Lussac-St.-Émilion appellation, once the site of historic battles and dreams of victory. Rich, concentrated and built to last, it’s intensely expressive of its terroir, displaying black-fruit flavors and polished tannins on the palate. Your quest for the consummate drinking experience ends here.

2016 Galadriel Bordeaux Blanc

The most noble and powerful of the Elves is honored by this high-toned wine, a Bordeaux Blanc with piercing citrus flavors and remarkable concentration. Just as Galadriel is revered by all those graced by her presence, this impressive white is a true testament to her strength and wisdom, imbuing an immediate sense of devotion with its graceful palate. Take a sip and fall under its ethereal spell.

2016 Frodo Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel

As honest and pure as a Hobbit’s heart, this zinfandel is crafted in honor of the most adventurous one of them all: Frodo Baggins, keeper of the Ring. And just as Hobbits are sturdier than they appear, so are the old vines that produced this red, which have endured for decades to survive - and flourish - against all odds. Vibrant flavors of blackberry, fig and spiced plum carry through the warm, pleasing finish of this reliable wine.

2016 Gandalf Monterey County Pinot Noir

The great Wizard Gandalf can only be embodied by a variety as respected and celebrated as Pinot Noir. Like the wise old wanderer, this subtle, yet complex red is unassuming at first glance, but quickly revealed to be spirited and persuasive, with black raspberry, alpine strawberry, and forest floor flavors casting a spell over your palate, bringing you back sip after sip.

About Lot18

Founded in 2010, Lot18 provides the best possible prices on high-quality wines – some well-known favorites, some hard-to-find selections, and plenty in between. Lot18 employs a team of experts who work closely with quality-driven winemakers around the world. These experts live by a simple rule: If they wouldn't spend their own money on a wine, they don't make it available on Lot18. The wines selected are unique in their own right, and represent the highest quality and value. In early 2013, Lot18 launched Tasting Room, a unique wine club offering an unprecedented level of customization and personalization.  The customer starts by tasting a range of wines (from a light, crisp white to a full-bodied red) in mini-bottle format and then gives feedback online through an innovative, yet simple, guided comparative tasting. This process generates a wine profile that allows Tasting Room to capture the nuances of each customer's palate. Tasting Room then uses this information to provide a specific selection of wines in standard-size bottles to match. Tasting Room is now the fastest growing wine club in the United States and launched a very successful national TV campaign in March 2016.

Brilliant marketing [In reply to] Can't Post

The writing for each of the LotR wines is hilarious. It must have been fun to write that stuff.

I noticed that, although the varietals are identified, the vineyards or regions are not. California? France? Hungary? Delaware? It's not clear. And it probably doesn't matter: these are not being sold to be drunk. With a limited edition of 6000 bottles, it would seem that the bottles with their labels will be more attractive to the market than the wine itself, of whatever quality it may be.

Lot 18 has found a wonderful niche: pop culture themed wine. LotR is just one of its clever offerings. Check out the Saturday Night Live collection:

I've heard of these! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've seen a brief news story about these wines elsewhere. If I can find a bottle or two then I might have a gift for the host of an upcoming holiday gathering.
