I still think Jeff Bridges as Tom [In reply to] Can't Post

So that's what you call me.. "Tom", or "Bombadil", or "Tom Bom, Jolly Tom, Tom Bombadillo", if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

The Bombadil abides.

For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars, and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams

Is that him from Warhorse? Or something else???

That is downright eeerie....

Also wonderfully odd how much he can "shapeshift" and look different in different roles.

Depends on what they adapt, to be honest. [In reply to] Can't Post

For example, if they do Beren and Luthien, I'd like to see Richard Madden as Beren.

Quite apart from whatever I think of your casting choices, you are jumping the gun as we don't know enough about the series yet to make a good guess about which characters will appear. I am fairly confident that it will not be set in the First Age of Middle-earth, so that might eliminate most of your selections right there. My own feeling is that the show will be set in the later part of the Third Age but years before the War of the Ring. How would you cast an Aragorn-centric series?

(Re-)casting Aragorn [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, if (and that's a big 'if') the show is about the travels of Aragorn prior to the War of the Ring then we would probably spend little time on Aragorn/Estel as a young boy. And I think I would rather try to cast an English lad than an American boy who would then need to learn Received Pronunciation. Most of the series would be focused on Aragorn in the years following his twentieth birthday. Other familiar characters from the films would include: Elrond; members of Elrond's household; Arwen; Gandalf the Grey; King Bard and his son Bain; Dáin Ironfoot; Théoden (as a child/youth), Denethor II (as a younger man); Galadriel and Celeborn; and possibly others (Saruman; Radagast; Thranduil; Legolas; etc.). And there are other characters from the legendarium who have not appeared on film: Tom Bombadil and Goldberry; the father or grandfather of Barliman Butterbur; members of the Company of Thorin Oakenshield; King Thengel of Rohan; Ecthelion II of Gondor; the sons of Elrond; etc.
