Hello everyone, It's a long shot that anyone here attended these shows or remember this, but here goes... I believe it was back in the late 90s, before the Jackson films, a series of live dramatisations of the Lord of The Rings took place on the grounds of stately home Calke Abbey in Ticknall, Derbyshire (England). These shows were great. It was all open air and they used different parts of the grounds as "sets" and you followed the Fellowship on their journey etc. I don't think I managed to attend all of them but the ones I did get to see were really well done and the grounds of Calke Abbey were a great choice. I'm just curious if anyone here remembers these shows or knows anything about them at all, or better yet - have any pictures.

Did the community theater company think of some way to work Frodo into The Hobbit or was that an error? Even Gandalf and Balin's later visit to Bag End took place almost twenty years before Frodo was born; however, I can readily imagine an older Bilbo as narrator, telling the story to Frodo years later.
