Poll: How important are hobbits to Amazon's Middle-earth?
It ain't Middle-earth without Hobbits
Forget Hobbits and Hugo Dyson! Elves, elves, and more elves!!
Maintain a balance between Men, Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, and Hobbits, just like the Fellowship!
Nelwyns, Gelflings, Ewoks, even Boggies, but absolutely no Hobbits!
What's a Hobbit?

Low Priority? [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't think that Hobbits are going to be a big deal in the series unless the showrunner goes out of his (her?) way to shoehorn them in. A lot of this is likely to depend upon the time period of the show; before the second third of the Third Age, all Hobbits seem to have lived east of the Misty Mountains. It's too bad that we know nothing of their history before they came to the Vales of the Anduin.

What are you trying to pull . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

There are great big anacondas, pygmys, alligators, spiders, harpys, kinkajous, and even jaguars. But nary a Hobbit has been encountered on or near the Amazon River.

Geez!! Mad

Ah! It has now become clear. Thank you! :) [In reply to] Can't Post

Amazon Middle Earth:

Similarities to the Former Location: Giant spiders, really big trees, wise and astute native inhabitants.

New features and events, due to local flora and fauna:

1. Isildur, ring and all, eaten by piranhas when he falls in the river. All Deagol has to do is go fishing, and all Gollum has to do is toss him in.

2. Mirkwood, joined with the old forest, is pretty much the entire location.

3. The Southrons ride giant tapirs into battle.

4. An aged Toucan whacks the snail against the (vine covered) cliff.

5. Flocks of evil parakeets spy out the land.

6.

7.

I'd be okay without them at times. [In reply to] Can't Post

The first two Ages of Middle-earth had no hobbits. And even in the Third Age, if they were to do some episodes on Aragorn's life in disguise while serving in Rohan and Gondor, for example, I'd hate for them to feel forced to insert cameos of hobbits as some sort of checklist.

On the flip side, they could do hobbit-centric stories about the Shire that could be quite entertaining with no Elves, Wizards, or other races. I hope they mix it up a lot.
