Scenes From The Hat Can't Post

What high schools did the people of Middle-earth attend? And what were their mascots?

The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

Go Crebain!

And Rose drew him in, and set him on the harpsichord bench, and put little Wilhelm Friedemann upon his lap.

He began composing a fugue. 'Well, I'm Bach,' he said.

Do dwarves and hobbits HAVE 'High' schools? // [In reply to] Can't Post

Where's that old read-through discussion?
A wonderful list of links to previous chapters in the 2014-2016 LOTR read-through (and to previous read-throughs) is curated by our very own 'squire' here http://users.bestweb.net/...-SixthDiscussion.htm

Is that where the athletes [In reply to] Can't Post

(That was such a painful pun, Otaku!) Wink

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

I can't tell you about the mascot, though - it is very offensive towards Whiteskins.

Galadriel, Bali High, the only island she could get to, after being [In reply to] Can't Post

Mascot, a sturdy Dwarf.

Goblin-town High's mascot: Huge black bats [In reply to] Can't Post

From what I can see... the only time Goblin-town is mentioned by this name is in the song sung by the Goblins after they captured Thorin, Bilbo & Company and marched them to the Great Goblin – trailed by Gandalf.

Anybody see it anywhere else in The Hobbit or LotR?
