Some good examples of High Frame-rate footage... Can't Post

It's pretty difficult to find good, cinematic examples of HFR footage. So here are some I found...

The first is from the movie Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. Originally shot at 120fps, it has recently been released on 4K UHD Blu-ray at 60fps. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x091jfFFe9g

Secondly, here is a short film called Meridian, created by Netflix to test high frame rate and HDR streaming. -

Finally, here's the trailer for BotFA converted into 48fps. -

As you can see, the conversion doesn't look anywhere near as clear or smooth as the native 60fps clips. But it's interesting to see a vague approximation of the effect.

What are your opinions on this technology?

HFR [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know about other movies, but I enjoyed the use of HFR in The Hobbit. As I recall though, the response to it was kind of mixed when the the movies came out. I don't think the HFR was retained for any of the home formats (someone please correct me if I'm wrong?), so it's not talked about much anymore. I'd like to get a chance to watch the trilogy in HFR again though. Good times! Cool
