MINECRAFT + Lord of the Rings Can't Post

I'm happy to extend an opportunity for anyone interested in checking out an amazing “Lord of the Rings”-themed MMORPG Minecraft server!

About the Server
It’s a permanent-world “survival” server with a 300k sq. meter map based on Tolkien’s Middle-earth (Third Age). It’s been highly customized to support the type of content and player population of a medium-scale MMORPG. It is 200x bigger than most of the “creative”-only Minecraft “Lord of the Rings” servers online.

Numerous full-sized “epic” builds have already been created: Minas Tirith, Bree, Moria, Goblin Town, Barad-Dur, to name just a few.

Unlike normal Minecraft it features NPCs, quests, hundreds of custom Middle-earth blocks/materials (everything from Gondor rock, to mithril armor, to athelas growing in the wild). It also features dozens of Middle-earth regions/biomes inhabited by NPC characters (Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarves, etc.).

This is accomplished not just through superficial resource packs, but through extensive client-side and server-side modifications! This is not an out-of-the box amateur project, but involves customized server code, professional-level security, and has been two years in the making.

It is highly-customized Lord of the Rings-themed Minecraft on a hard-core “survival” world that features a working siege-warfare system.

The server itself is 100% free and non-commercial.

About the Opportunity
The server has not been open to the public yet, and before we can even start to do that on even a modest scale we need to see how well it performs.

At this stage we are mostly looking for “players” interested in testing things out, but also “builders” who’d like to have a creative role on our server!

We have a fully-functioning NPC/quest system, in-game custom artwork support, custom music support, full-graphical in-game books, runes, jewelry system, etc., all in addition to what Minecraft normally provides. There is massive room for growth and additional content, though the priority right now is simply on players and those who’d like to undertake some epic building projects.

Either way, this promises to be a fun and amazing experience and we can guarantee you'll be in awe at what we've done so far.

The biggest requirement is simply for those with an interest in building (or playing) on a survival open-world server inspired by the world of Middle-earth! Basically, this is an early Beta test and we're wanting the first players we get to be:

A) Mature
B) Hardcore Tolkien fans
C) Have a desire to enhance our server with the cool opportunity of building or experiencing our server as a normal player before everything works quite right.
D) Able to experiment, provide useful feedback, and tolerant of changes and frequent downtime stretches.

As we will need to tweak our performance, mechanics, and security, this is massively easier with a manageable group of mature committed Tolkien fans versus hordes of inpatient general Minecraft gamers looking for PvP and prone to griefing/exploiting.

Minecraft experience isn't necessary!

System Requirements

The main requirement is a computer able to run our heavily modified version of Minecraft decently. This means a Windows/Mac/Linux PC with 6 gigabytes of RAM.

If you have a Chromebook, or only 4 gigabytes of RAM you won't be able to run our version of Minecraft with our server.

Your own Minecraft account is not strictly necessary!

How to Join
Just send me a PM with your interest and thoughts… and I’ll respond with the additional questions I have, and info on how to get started!

P.S. You can include any Minecraft-specific experience, other relevant gaming experience, or info regarding your hardware as well.
